Fish ID please

Heaps of these fish up at Denham on our recent trip, just wondering if anyone can shed light onto what they are?

As a kid we used to throw them back, but there used to be an old chinese man who used to collect them off us and cook and eat them

Yeah its a rabbitfish or spinefoot (Siganidae). The black spinefoot Siganus fuscescens.

What sort of baits/rig were you using? I was up there the past couple of weeks and saw a few snorkeling, but we didnt catch any at all.

They are also pretty common on shallow wrecks and coral lumps in the perth region at the moment.
