Yeah not smart but it was accidental bycatch, as preached by all those fishing for kg's. Fishing for other species in a no catch and release zone or in an area where demersal by-catch can logically be expected is not illegal, but is one more ethical than the other?

I am surprised in the age of internet and word of mouth how many people still have no idea of the regs.It would be like going jigging for sambos with brass clips or popping for gts with mono ect.A quick google and you are a full bottle on anything now days.I havent had the time to get out this year and i will be double checking the regs before i head out again.That and i will be checking my jocks after my first dive for a long time.

I don't see any one getting shit for hooking snapper ect while jigging for sambo's. Some times non targeted fish are caught and reliesed.
What if i want to target mulloway at the D9 ( were i have caught plenty ) and hook a snapper, reliese it, am i doing the wrong thing.?
Give the guy a break he put the fish back, im sure he's not the only person in perth to hook a snapper during the ban !
