Fiji & Wilderness Rods

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone has fished Denaru, Fiji landbased before? First of all.. are you allowed to fish, or is it all blocked to fishing? I just wanted to walk around chucking a few poppers and soft plastics.. Which leads me to my second point.
Does anyone have any information or feedback on the Daiwa Wilderness rods? I was looking at getting the 8-17pd rod to match up with my certate 3500 to take away with me. Havnt really heard to much about them, is there any other travel rods anyone can recommend?
Also, if there are any charters anyone can recommend while im in fijithat would be unreal.
Thanks in advance..
Cheers

Whereabouts are you staying
Whereabouts are you staying in Denaru?
My partner and I spent 8 nights in the Sheraton resort whilst she had to attend a conference.
I went on several charters whilst I was there, and used two different operators. All the charters were aimed at popper fishing the shallower waters in the area. Great fun, but not cheap!!
In terms of chucking smaller lures and poppers about landbased, the only place I could really suggest is the rockwall at the marina, they do, at times get some good jacks there, but I wouldn't hold your breath.

Im staying at the Radison
Im staying at the Radison Hotel, pretty sure its fairly close to the Sheraton actually. Sounds like there is not much point in me taking my own rod. Ah well.
How much did the charters cost roughly? What did you catch etc.?
Thanks for the response.

The price of the charters
The price of the charters would depend on if it was just you or not. When I say charters, the boats were only 6-7mts, and not all that flash.
When I went out I was solely chartering the boat and I was only fishing 2 hrs each side of the tide, so only 4 hrs p/day, and it was costing me about $100AUD p/h.
I would say it is worth going out. We caught reasonable GT's and Bluefin Trevally, but there is a lot of other species there as well. At the end of the day, you aren't often in Fiji, so it's worth a crack.
Let me know if you want any contact details.

Radison had a pretty cool
Radison had a pretty cool pool bar, if you have kids jump aboard the Bula bus and go to the Sofitel resort, they have a pool with some good watersldes!! Westin has a good steakhouse. If you have got the money, hire a jetski from Adrenalin and do the 10km trip to Bounty Island, well worth it!!
