FEED IN THE BAN
Submitted by Belly88 on Fri, 2013-10-25 18:58
Thought id throw up a pic of today catch for those who are interested. Still plenty of good fun to be had in the ban. And now a good feed....
Managed our limit of big sandies (60 for 2 people) and 4 KGs just out from Two Rocks. Plenty of boats out so hopefully everyone got a feed and made the most of an awesome day on the water..
Cheers Belly

Yep, Im goin to do the same on Sunday with the mrs and kids. Nice haul, who gets to do the filleting? Did you get the kgs on the same ground as the sandies?

Nice feed
I cooked a heap of them up in southern fried mix the other night and was even eating them cold the next couple of days. Whiting are really underrated IMO

Love em
Yup love whiting, by far my favorite fish to eat. With two people one scaling one filetting we get em done pretty quick..
Timo the KGs were from a bit heavyer ground out a bit further but we gave up trying to catch them after the 4th demersal by catch so decided whiting was a safer option..

Good work Belly. Nice and
Good work Belly. Nice and fat! Nothing beats a feed of fresh whiting. I'll be doing a landbased yellowfin hunt Sunday morning, usually wait for warmer water temp but hopefully they've started lurking around the beaches along with the flatties. Had a memorable session a few summers ago standing on a reef sight casting to a school of kidney slappers. Biggest was 42cm!

Scaler bags
Belly those scaler bags are the go if your targeting the whiting, takes all the scaling out of it so you just fillet. Gets rid of all that slime the whiting leave in your esky too. I have one that is basically 2 mesh bags one inside the other cost me about $5

Was guna say the same, prob wont fit 60 in one bag tho lol. Just troll the bag so it tumbles over the wake, works for me at about 10 to 12kn, cleans them up good, works ok for squid too
