Fcv587 deep water setting

 Hi guys,

can anyone tell me what deep water settings they are using on thier furuno 587 and tm260

went out last Friday and tried the 587 in 200+ of water, it picked up the bottom fine but the screen was full of clutter even with 0 gain, tvg was set to high and running it on 50khz, tried changing the clutter and other setting it didn't clear it at all

tranny is a tm260

The unit works exceptionally well on 200khz up to 150m, once it's changed to high tvg it just clutters up.

Thanks in advance!

Justin

Dunno if it's too much

Dunno if it's too much different from my 585 and tm258 but I can't run high tvg in 50 khz.

Has to be low or medium (which ever gives best pic, just adjust gain to suit) and 2/1 scroll rate with black background .

As little clutter and colour erase as you can manage and range shift in to remove most of the water column.

As above - go dead slow or it's all over.

That's the best I have been able to get mine

Yeah I tried it on medium tvg, it does read the bottom but I have to crank the gain up very high. Might just have to leave it on medium

 justin ,

check you clutter settings are 0%,

interference is ok at auto,

TVG - 200M + set to high

if this doesnt work for you, try your 200khz as that will still work in the 200,s

note, sounding on 50khz you muust be going very slow,

good luck

The set up of the tranny is ok, I have no problems with good picture with my normal settings but once I turn it to high tvg it clutters the whole screen

I run tvg on high in 300 m on 50 kHz and get clear screen if running at 5 knots if not too much chop, but have thru hull. You are pushing brown stuff up hill with a transom mount, much harder as any turbulence will show up as clutter.
