Favourite Hook
What is your all time favourite hook and why?
If I could reach into the 'Hook" box, Bashing and all else around here it has become clearer and clearer to me that my fav hook is a Hoodlum.
Obviously it is not for everything but if I was told you can only get one, it would be this awesome, strong and razor sharp hook.
I have a stupid amount of hooks. They would all rust before I could use them all. Some people like lures, but I just have to have the best possible hooks. Up here in Karratha I even bye hooks that is more suited for down south, just so I have some. 3 Plano boxes full and I am a bit of a pig, so they arent all numbered a stacked in order. Rough seas does mess them up a bit, my excuse.
To get back to the point. It would be interesting to get a single hook preference and just because this is my favourite I am sure I could learn from everyone else.
Lets see the outcome.

im going to have to go with
im going to have to go with the Mustad Tainawa hooks ... ive got other great hooks for larger baits but if i was only allowed one hook to do all my fishing. this would be it. ive caught just about everything from king george whiting to big sharks with it and never had one straighten.

gama circles
Gama circles for anything over 70m, means a lift as a strike rather than an actual strike and just normal j hooks, gama as well for under 70m.

Mustad Tainawa
I'm with you Feral. They are indeed excellent hooks. I don't use them exclusively but generally come back to them if it's not happening.

Two types
Used tarpons of all sizes for years but lately have found that they are not as good as they were. From a box of 100 used to break 7-10 opening the eyes to gang them, now using the same method break none.
The other one is a hook I found on ebay, surecatch live bait hooks, needle sharp and a shorter shank than the tarpon.
Have tried tuna circle/square hooks but found I couldn't catch a bloody thing with them while Jeff[Deepwater] got fish after fish, swapped back to tarpons and immediately started catching[mustn't be holding my mouth right]

I like Mustad
big guns in all sizes. Use the 4/0 and 6/o alot. Nice strong hook, short enough shank to hide in a bait and needle sharp..
