I'm over all the extra

Sun, 2017-07-09 08:00

I'm over all the extra charges and levies! You can't move in the last 3 or 4 years without increases and new taxes on everything. AND it all seems to go way ahead of inflation.

I just deregistered one of my bikes because the wankers decided to slug every rego an extra $100 for some underfunding problem they are having. So instead of putting it on drivers licenses, I get unfairly slugged. I can only drive one at a time!

They make up their reasons to suit themselves but at the end of the day it's just another rip over the top of inflation. Like the huge electricity rises (oh... to fix our problem deficit), You can bet your bottom dollar that that won't decide to lower anything again even if the budget is in surplus)

I'm tired of it!

It's like they soften the public up a bit and if there is no real protest they all get on the band wagon and start slugging us more. I think the public needs to stand up against all the price rises and demand they they get more efficient rather than continually raise the cost of living.

I choose to pay VJ6LQ an annual fee because I want to contribute to a great service of volunteers.

OK rant over

So boat owners are going to

Sun, 2017-07-09 08:42

So boat owners are going to pay extra to cover a shortfall in the levy for a rural bushfire service?? Boat owners are a soft target because most people have the opinion that if you can afford a boat you shouldn't whinge about any extra costs in life. The real loser out of this will be groups like VJ6LQ when people stop paying their voluntary membership fees.

Here's an idea just off the top of my head... if someone wants to live in a bushfire prone area surrounded by trees how about they pay for the levy for a rural bushfire service on top of their council rates? The user should be the one paying.

 When talking budget,

Sun, 2017-07-09 10:37

When talking budget, situation is complex. generally, we don't have a user pay system (I'm not referring to just marine) as there's a large part of the community who can't afford it but still want the lifestyle. So in principle, the rich pay more to make it up. In reality, it's the middle class that gets slugged the most as the poor pay nothing as they have nothing to start with. The rich have their legal advisers to work out how much less they can pay which leaves middle class people like me who can't afford advisers to pay for everybody. A lot of the time politics gets in the way of the right decisions when one party favours one section of the community over another for the sake of winning votes. The one with the less influence gets done over and that's what's happening, I reckon.

sea rescue

It would be interesting to see how many of the boats are not registered with a marine rescue group, perhaps that should be compusory

A lot of people have boats

A lot of people have boats where there is no marine rescue. But I hear your point.
