I would be casting the lures that I can cast the furthest. metal lures would be the pick or poppers. GTs aren't all that tricky, they will chase anything you put in front of them. The more time your lure spends in the water the better your chances are of hooking one.Change of tide as with most fishing will be the best time ,or sunrise sunset
Here in Coral Bay off the shore all the action form the trevs and queenys is in the hour or so leading up to high tide. Once high tide hits it suddenly stops. Have not seen too much around the low tide change. It might be differnt for GT's up there but for the glodspots, baby GT's and Queenys here its like clockwork.
When fishing Oysters fish the run out tide to the bottom of the low. The Oysters themselves will provide awesome casting platforms just be sure to take reef booties as they are very sharp and will cut up thongs or cheap foot wear. Both stick baits and poppers will work. Dont be afraid to chug big poppers there upto 2 hours after sunset aswell. Be sure to plan where your going to land a fish if you do hook up.
