Most people go to tanker

Sun, 2012-01-01 03:48

Most people go to tanker jetty(the long one).  Squid is the go here  and  herring are like blowies. Skippy  is  good here as well.

Taylor st jetty  is good  for  KG whiting. Use fresh squid and burley up with squid waste  to draw them in. You   can also  back ur car right to the end of the jetty once all the commercial charters are done for the day.

The beaches west of town   are good for  skippy and herring. Salmon in season. Bit of  a hike on foot  with some.

Theres stones  in legrand national park. Last they were talking about anchors at the popular spots. Not sure if its been done yet.Theres a tackle store near red rooster. They'll be a better source of info.

Goodluck

the beaches west of town im

The beaches west of town im talking about theres a reef  running parralel to the beach. quite close as well. pretty obvious with google earth. cant remember the name. 10 or 12 mile. go past twilight cove near the windfarms. big skippy around there.

If you have a 4000 size reel with 2 spools  of 20lb and 10lb  and  a  7ft rod should  cover  most bases. A  handline  is handy  for  herring off the jetty.

putting out a burley trail on the beach is  pretty important. Dont bother  with  ganged hooks.  Salmon  respond well to  burley  so  a single  hook can cover salmon , skippy and bull herring. Off the tanker jetty  the herring  and  gardies in the  top third of  water and skippy off the bottom. The squid  will hit  cheap  razorbacks  to  expensive yozuris. Colour   can  vary between mainly  pink and green sometimes orange.
