What sized boat do you have Christian?  Also, when does Easter fall this year?  Can give some advice with a bit of extra info.

the weather will be a major influence but thats the best thing about Exi, always good options close or wide.

there are 3 ramps (most used). these are the town marina, bundegi and tanti. Tanti is on the west side while the other two are within the gulf on the east side of the cape. all easy to use with your size boat but tanti does require some care with the sand but you will see what you need to do as its well used.

tanti is famous for deep water real close to the reef. its the closet point to the continental shelf, only a few miles out. so one can head out and be in deep water not far off the back of the reef. there is plenty of ground so just sound around. never hurts to have a spread out while sounding.

apart from all the advice from the forum you can grab the North Australian Fish Finder book that has charts from Gero around to NSW. there are maps of Exi in it that will give you some pointers.

apart from that Adam and Jeff (Deepwater) are the locals.

definitley recommend heading up but accommodation may be an issue

damo has hit the nail on the head ,if you like throwing lures around in side the reef at tantis there are afue trout and spangos and on the east side we got queenies, trevs and macs .bottem bashing just out side the reef at tantas there is lots of good botten out to about 25\30m a nice little edge ,there is always a good place to start alway get a feed of sorts,
my boat is only 5.7m and i get out chasing them all hope this helps
