Eco Beach & Broome
Submitted by Pezdog on Tue, 2010-11-09 15:17
Hi All
Heading to Eco Beach and Broome in April/May 2011 with the Mrs and hoping to get in a little fishing while I am there.
I won't have a boat and will definately catch a charter while I'm there but would like any suggestions on land based fishing.
I have heard you can walk the stretch at Eco beach with lures trying for some Queenies etc but unsure of how succsessful this will be.
Any thoughts for both Eco Beach and Broome would be awesome as we will be staying about 5 nights at each.
Cheers

I went there years ago, just a few weeks prior to it being demolished by cyclone Rosita??
We fished Jacks creek with one of the Eco beach guides. He would take us up there in a Suzuki 4WD as it is about 10km from the resort. We would use livey's to catch barra, jacks and threadfin salmon.
At the time I was there nobody was running any offshore charters, but if they are doing it when you get up there, it would probably be worth the expense. Also they used to do flyfishing charters for threadies off the beach.
As I said it has been a while since I've been there, but Jacks Creek was a great place to fish.

Eco beach should have a
Eco beach should have a charter operator there that time of year. Should get barra and threadies in the creeks and worth a walk along the beach on an incoming tide for salmon, queenies etc but be warned they are very eco freindly nowadays. Broome will be worth a trip on a charter , the sails should be firing up around Barred creek by then and the bottom fishing has had time to recoup during the wet. Might even be a barra around still though better chance at a threadie then.

We stayed at Barn Hill
We stayed at Barn Hill station (next door) Oct last year and I got talking to a lady who shouted her hubby to a fishing trip based there for his 50th. She said that the guide he had was awesome and got into some incredible fish action and would absoloutely do it again...and again...you get the drift. Other than that there is lots of reefy ground around that area just offshore and would love to get out there on a boat and have a crack.

The jetties always worth a
The jetties always worth a look as is the rocks around entrance point boat ramps with slices for queenies and the occassional tuna or mackie. Walk the beach north of the rocks using mulies for bluenose salmon( you don't need to cast far as they are in shallow water) Gantheame point off the rocks for bluebone but good luck landing them.
Come up the fishing club at Entrance point on the weekend and pick the locals brains they're pretty freindly.

Eco Beach
Hey guys,
I spent 6months working at Eco Beach rebuilding the resort a couple years back,
while heading up the jacks creek can deffintly be worth the trip we found that right infront of the entry to the beach just to the right of the reef structre was as good as spot as any for chasing your big bluenose salmon, I was just using a light Nexuave with a TwinPower 4000 flicking Chrome Twisties and catching Bluenose salmon cast after cast (on a high tide in the afternoon..) with the lighter gear its great fun and if you head over to the reef to the left youv got a good chance for some decent bluebone.. So if your just looking for some fun fishing without having to travel to far or pay for guides this is the way to go.
Hope This Helps :)

Couple of mates have been out with him and they were pretty impressed - good boat, good bloke and they all caught fish. He's been running charters out of Derby for years. Check out his website ....
