Dunsborough Fishing
Submitted by LandyAndy on Thu, 2011-10-06 18:41
Hi Guys
A hastily arranged fishing trip.
A mate rings today and is heading for his beach shack at the weekend in Dunsborough.
I have decided to join him and instead of beach fishing,Im taking the boat.
I have never boat fished down there.
Anybody know of "non secret" fishing marks???
Would love to get a Dhuie or Snapper before the west coast demersal closure.

you could try
you could try the four mile about 16-18m water in the bay or wrights bank north of cape nat but wrights can get hairy , its big ground that gets swell one way and tide the other also cops a floggin from wood ducks its marked on any chart of cape nat other than that theres no fish down here %) good luck

Might want
to check the forecast mate. Saturday is pretty ordinary. Sunday looks OK when it drops under 15knts.
Try the reef systems 4-6Nm Nth of Cape Nat, some good fish come from that area. Just study your sounder for fish.
Stay away from Wrights bank, strong currents and full of Sambos.
HAHA, wasn't far away Steve

Thanks guys.
I am a newbie boat owner, only 3 times out.First trip out,I was the one in Albany a couple of weeks ago that had the shark visit,it was an awesome experience I will remember for the rest of my fishing days.
We wont be down there until lunchtime saturday,Im not looking for risky fishing,if its no good happy to stay in close hunting my favourite eating fish the humble KG whiting.
Will be buying a local chart before I head out.
For you that know Emery,my tub was his "Deckem".
Great boat,love it!!!!

Wasnt taking the chance,some
Wasnt taking the chance, some of them were reasonable size.
This was a small one.
I have never caught or seen one before,my deckie was calling them Scorpion Fish, wasnt 100% sure he was right, reckons he catches heaps down there from his dinghy and lets them go.
Fiddler sharks were fun on the lighter rods.
