Dirk Hartog Lodge boat fishing

Hi all,
We're heading for the lodge in July and taking a boat with us. I have never been to Dirk Hartog and was wondering what the boat fishing is like in the bay heading North from the lodge? Any chance of catching pelagics in the bay or do you need to go south round the channel to get ocean side west of the island?
Cheers, Kev

Hi BC.
I haven't boat fished out there, but would assume that the fish are out there. We camped at Dampiers landing and spent a while fishing off the beach there when the weather made the West side unfishable - not much around other than sharks, but we did pick up a very nice spaniard off the beach, so they are there. Saw quite a few bust ups well offshore there, and also round the corner at turtle bay, so would assume that there are plenty of predators if you have a boat.
You could try asking Kieran, he's usually pretty helpful?
Good luck, cheers.
BD.
