Dirk Hartog Advice
Just found out the missus has been secretly organising for me to go with my mate to Dirk Hartog for a weeks landbased fishing in late May. Pretty excited to get up there and experience the place and really do some serious lb fishing. As 99% of my fishing these days is from a boat my jigging gear probably won't cut it from the cliffs and beaches up there so after some advice on what set ups are a must have for a trip like this. I am keen to fish for anything and everything!
Also any advice on places to fish around the island are welcome (feel free to private message). My mate has been before so has some idea but there's obviously a lot of coastline around the island to explore.
Cheers for any help!
Oh also and ideas on a good birthday/wedding anniversary present for the missus as it turns out my mate could only book us into the island during my wifes birthday and our wedding anniversary. Woops! Apparently no weekend fishing for me until this trip!

Wow, what a missus -
Wow, what a missus - secretly organising a sweet fishing trip away on your wedding anniversary! Most guys would get divorced at the thought of doing that! As for the anniversary present, go all out in the hope that next year she lets you go again! Chicks dig anything jewellery, preferably gold, and preferably expensive haha.

DHI
Mobil service only at light house, unless you have antenna on your car, or rual tic phone.
Take a cliff gaff, Occy works well, pink soft plastics, min 50lb line, mono also, 12ft 8wrap rod, lots of sinkers, epirb, flares, drinking water, bushmans repelent, wading bag, reef walkers, mouse traps for the little buggers that walk over you at night when you sleep, tuna hooks work great off the rocks. alveys work good on the cliffs. been there 14 times so far back again in sept 13, best landbase fishing in the world..
