Good season
Considering they were not even expected to make the 8 and with so many debut players..The next few years are looking very promising.

Experience
With the experience of playing Geelong on the MCG is going to be a huge step forward for the younger members of the team seeing as its their first game at the ground this year and 6-7 of the side haven't even been there before.
Even playing a losing second semi final adds something like a hundred grand to their bank account which is more than the sides who lost last week and heaps more than those who finished out of the eight. Sadly there is no trophy but then again the other WA side collected one this year so all is good.

Yeh its not surprising
that was there first game there this season, when other teams have a monopoly on the MCG, to the point where one played there last seven games there - Still it's what all seasoned AFL supporters expect these days.

on a very good year. Outclassed by the mature guys [Geelong] but hey your best years are yet to come where as Geelong are at their peak and maybe soon to go backwards.

too be honest they didnt stand a chance of winning tonight. you cant expect to walk onto the big stage agaisnt one of the best teams in the comp for a number of years and expect to win. give them 2 or 3 years and they will be major contenders

Yeah never expected them to
Yeah never expected them to win but they've done a great job getting there. Could clearly see the differences between the two teams, so much of the Cat's effort was pin-point... Dockers fumbled a lot more, kicked to the opposition and were generally outclassed.
That third quarter was a cracker though.

Oh Well!
They turned up to play against the Hawks. They just didn't put up a show at all last night. It was a very dissapointing effort. As a West Coast supporter, this year was the first time I have actually enjoyed watching Dockers games (apart from that effort last night). Hopefully Barlow can get back to full fitness next year so they can have another crack at the finals. I hope they trade out Mundy though. He is a front runner who doesn't chase hard enough when he doesn't have the ball!!!

Docker selections and game
Docker selections and game plan?
Cananyone tell me why Des Headland was picked for the game? Hasnt played since rd4 and still not100% even if they said he was, he obviously wasnt....
And then to throw their own teammates out with Sandilands up fwd to start so hey can just bomb it in fast, but on the few time they did it he wasnt there anyways....They changed their whole structure and they way they play for the one game they shouldnt have....What happened to backing themselves?
Where was kepler bradley? Injured? It seems they went into the game to play on geelongs terms and hope to beat. Not go into the game on their own terms and go hard....
Im sure if it was a full strength Eagles team they were playing in the finals they wouldve played their little hearts out....And got over the line....
Sorry but If i was a Dockers supporter I would be bitterly disappointed with the game last night.....After agreat effort against Hawks and then thy give you that performance.
How many docker supporters turned it off after quarter time? half time?
It was stupid also that it was their first game at the MCG.... Good ole AFL for you.
Thats my rant.... Eagles top 4 next yr.....lol (wishing)

one simple reason, he's the
one simple reason, he's the only Dockers player with a GF under his belt, the gamble didn't pay off unfortunantly, Headland will retire this off season i'd say and they sould have either left the young fella in there of at least put in Palmer for some pressure in the contests.
Weep away eagles, we don't drop shit on you for losing a final so show some respect and get used to the fact the W.A team with the bright future is south of the swan river for the next few years. blah blah grand finals wins whatever but that hasn't done jack shit for you this year has it? look forward not back gentlemen, sick of the excuses myself. St Kilda haven't won a premiership in 50 odd years, how bout you tell them of your three titles then. Only one counts as the 2006 title was the only one you got when the Dockers where in the AFL, good on ya for getting it but the next one is a long way off

I was questioning the
I was questioning the headland in aswell, crichton gould have contributed alot more than headland did last night,
also as previously said, we were never going to win, a great experience for them.
i'm suprised no one has mentioned how well Walters played, he was outstanding for a second year player. Also Roberton played very well.

I'm not a dorkers supporter
but would have been really peeved off with not playing at the MCG all year till last night. I fnd that disgusting on the AFL part. To have so many young players in the team, to step onto the MCG ground would have been scary to say the least, but good on the Dorkers for a very good season, it all boils down to they were beaten by a better team on the night.
All the best for both WA teams for next year..........Caaaaarn the eagles.

How can you be proud of that
How can you be proud of that rubbish they put out last night. As I have asked before, is 5th or 6th a success? If they have any balls the players should feel like dogs for the crap they dished up, I would be ashamed to be a Dockers supporter after that.

hard done by
i reckon haselby wood of been sittin back in perth feelin pretty hard done by after des "the dud" headland got a game. to me its a no brainer which of the two i wood rather of had in the team. and sandilands was no where near 100% fit,and u cant take injured or under done players into games of finals footy, as both the hawks and doggies found out last week.

All in all a great season,
All in all a great season, young players learnt alot and also a taste for how hard finals footy is. I think we all knew Geelong would win, but i can see a win win situation for the dockers even though they lost.

The Dockers delivery into the forward line
was simply pathetic. All they did was hand the ball straight to a Geelong defender who then ran the ball straight down the corridor for some of the easiest goals you will see (with no defensive pressure from the Dockers players). Guys like Wojcinski and Varcoe had way too much pace for the Dockers players.
Had to admire Pav's game on the flip side. He had a go at least.
Yes, I am an Eagles supporter, but I was hoping for a bit more fight from the Dockers last night. As the Dockers fans here say - maybe the younger Dockers players will learn a bit from the way they were totally outplayed by the Cats.
Now it's Mad Monday for the Shockers to look forward too!

Last night was a learning
Last night was a learning curve for the team, the players were told to go out and have some fun, absorb what was going on and learn lots from it. Hopefully that's what happened. Onward and forward for next year, our window of opportunity is starting to open, not like the egirls who cant even find their window just now. They need to cull out 50% of their list, just to be some kind of competitive in the years to come. That's not a dig at wet toast, thems the cold hard facts.
Cheers

Warnock
Warnock did the same as a lot of eastern state recruits at Fremantle have done---sandbagged for the last two years of their contract and hope to be picked up by a Melbourne club.
Warnock to Carlton Croad back to Hawthorn Tram kisser [forget his name] to Richmond just to name a few.

The Dockers
had a great first half to the season, and it probably would have continued into September with an injury free list (Barlow , Tarrent, Sandi, Ballantyne) BUT, dont be happy with what you saw last night, because it was a poor effort by dockers usual high standards. If you are happy with that end to the season then you are part of the problem not the solution. cheers Pete (Eagles supporter who would have loved the Dockers to win)

as a proud dockers supporter
as a proud dockers supporter i am stoked they made the semi's. no one expected them to beat hawthorn last week but they did. sure there wasn't much fight from the boys in the 1st quarter but look back over the year and most experts tipped freo to finish at the bottom, they soulcd be fucking proud of what achieved this year, wins over syndey away, brissie away, geelong at home, 2 derbys wrapped up. Thats bloody good.
All i can say is if they don't deliver the goods next year then flame away, these young fellas will have almost 50 games under thier belt and should be able to play on the big stage, anything less than top 8 is a massive failure.

Eagles supporters know we
Eagles supporters know we are doing it tough, but the main difference is that when we are up and going again we won't pretend that we have been successful if we win 10 games and make up numbers in the finals. We also know that derbies are just 4 points, and that it is more importanat to win in September.
Until Dockers supporters start seeing the big picture they will continue to exist in that little claytons successful world.
