Dhuies On Rubbers
Submitted by Longcast on Wed, 2012-02-22 00:08
Hi,
Some pictures from over the festive season i thought i would post up after seeing another post with rubber hanging out of a nice dhuies mouth.
We have fished rubbers with success for a couple of years know 50+meters and above.
How many other like minded people out there that get into the same type of fishing reaping the rewards of artificals?

Some big Dhuies there. Well done. Haven't tried atrificials myself but lots of people seem to be having success with them lately.
I fish for the future - Cause I can't bloody catch anything!

We use jigs in plus 30 m,
We use jigs in plus 30 m, must admit, I find using plastics in 50 m a chore, hard to hold bottom and hard to impart action on the plastic. Still, you probably don't need much action?
Certainly seems successful!

Agreed with JohnF. It's hard
Agreed with JohnF. It's hard to impart action in 50m+ but I notice lifting and dropping plastics in these instances is enough to entice a strike.
Love using artificials and only starting using plastics in deep water recently and love the results.
Used mostly 11 inch McArthy's glow in the dark plastics as well as Gulp! 7 " Jerkshad. So far, these are the plastics that work for me offshore.

Nice dhu's! You blokes are killin it!
This is a bit of a beginner question re: using soft plastics in deeper water (as I'm keen to start using them when bottom bouncing)
Do you rig them up in a fairly standard way? So braid connected to leader, then straight onto the jig head.
Or do you use a paternoster type of rig with a sinker at the bottom and jig heads tied higher up?
Hopefully that makes sense.

Thanks Guys,Big Jig heads
Thanks Guys,
Big Jig heads 4-6-8oz dependant on current.
Big Plastics 12"inch to 8''inch.
100lb fluro leader loop Knot connection.
Cast up wind of boat drift direction let sink until feel bottom sharp rips.
Sounder helps lads when you can see the fish and drop down and they are on the chew and you dont even impart any action its just a case of click the bail arm over and hang on lol.

I have had quite a bit of success on plastics, with a few good dhuies, but also quite a few smaller models. Have people done a plastics vs. jigs comparison? I would be interested to see what catches more.

Totallt Agree Goodz..What
Totallt Agree Goodz..
What ever spends more time in the water and what you feel confident with will catch fish.
Baby Elf paddle tail is a killer plastic but all time favorite is the 12''inch glow...
