we get them occasionally but they are always to small or just size. it gets a little frustrating when u go fishing for a whole day and only catch some big skippy and black bum.

Make sure the bait is fresh :) and keep the baits big, maybe yours baits are too small to entice a duie.

the "Da Dhuie Code"

Tue, 2008-07-22 08:33

Once you crack the code you will catch a few more fish. Simply get on the water and explore more (that's the code). Look for small lumps rather than massive ones and look for flat coral too. A good sounder will help.
If you are fishing from the South of Rotto head to the 90's and if you are north of Rotto head to the mid 40's or deeper.
It isn't as easy as it looks and takes a lot of time on the water to get good results, as  Ryan, Bill, Diji, Dalmatinac, Rockpom and others that catch dhuies regularly will tell you. There is no substitute for exploring and time out there sussing it all out.
One last tip for exploring that is simple yet effective is to travel between spots using arcs. That means don't head straight there, take a narrow or wide berth so you travel over different ground each time rather than heading straight between spots and going over the same ground each time.
Good luck.Wink
