hi guys, i am getting more and more into demersal jigging (as are many others!!) and i wanted to get some opinion from the more experienced jiggers out there , i am currently re rigging all of my demersal jigs with new assists and various octopus skirts over the assists and my question is whether to use 1 assist hook or 2 on each jig, what do you think (all of the jigs are between 70 and 150 grams ) cheers

I prefer two on demersal jigs
I prefer two on demersal jigs but one when you dont want the chance of multiple fish (sambos, deep drop).
If running two, I run them slightly different lengths and rig them up as a double as opposed to using two premade assists.

Unless they pull in opposite
Unless they pull in opposite directions and pull your gear. No drag at that spot and twice the pressure any fish can apply ;)

I do the same Matt.I did make
I do the same Matt.
I did make the mistake of rigging up for each and every jig , but you don't need to. Just rig a few in different lengths.
Also started using a bit of heat shrink over the hook and up the cord a little in an effort to keep the hooks from getting caught up in the swivel, split ring.
If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.

My leader attaches to a swivel. The swivel goes to a split-ring which holds the jig and the solidring that the assists attach to. Could do a up close pic if someone wanted, but best to know exactly what you want a pic of though?
