I installed mine a couple of months ago but I got Johnny from North Coast Marine to install the through hull fitting for me. The rest took me around a day including running around for parts, plumbing my bait well, installing the switches, running and connecting wires, mounting the deckwash and plumbing it all up.

This is the kit I bought: m.ebay.com/itm/Johnson-Pump-64634-Aqua-Jet-5-2-Gph-Wash-Down-550-Live-Well-Kit-12v-/401228010128

You also need a SS water scoop and SS ball valve, wire, nuts and bolts hose and sikaflex which will come in at around $100.

I've seen cheap home made versions where people have used a pipe going down the back of the transom and 90 degree turn at the bottom to face forward into the water which is forced through it when your underway, it had a ball valve where it come over the transom to turn it off and on. Only downside obviously it can only be used when moving forward and it becomes the deckies job which ain't such a bad thing.

or install a 2000GPH bildge pump on your transom and switch it on and off as you please, pipe runs up to stow in your side pocket
not a streamlined look but practical, relatively cheap and no hull penetration required

Got a Johnson pump in mine

Wed, 2016-12-07 08:48

Got a Johnson pump in mine and installed using this stainless intake from whitworths. I don't know about you but I prefer not to drill holes in the transom so this intake allows you to connect a pipe to the deck wash pump. I screwed it into the transducer bracket. You will need a hard walled hose to run from the intake to deck wash pump as it does create a fair bit of intake pressure. Been using it on the run and also while stationary. Plenty of pressure and the pump has never missed a beat.

costs seems to range from 180.00 to 500.00 plus, im not mech. minded at all  hence the hesitation.

It's fine for cleaning the bait board, washing squid ink away, washing bait and blood away etc. Haven't needed to blast mud off the anchor though.

wasnt necessarily meaning buy from ebay, just an easy way to show the item..

yeah wherever you buy from, something like that will do nicely for pressure and longevity in my opinion.
