Decent Overhead Combo?

Hey guys

Looking at getting a trolling/bottom bouncing combo. Something decent at both as I don't go out often enough to get one for each.

I like the look of the Tyrnos and the price seems reasonable. Combo around $400 is where I would put my budget at.

Not sure in which size too, I guess the smaller the better because of the weight but wouldn't have a clue.

Would be used metro to try for macks, tuna, Dhus etc

If not the Tyrnos any other recommendations would be great.

Cheers

I have the 20 tyrnos combo.  It's massive.

Go the 12 if you can- looks like you can still get 450 meters of 40lb braid on it.

Yeah they are good reels and agree with the post above. You should fit plenty of braid on the smaller models. You could also check out the Saltist Lever drags. The TLD will also be fine for the job as will the Penn Squall. I'm not sure if you wanted a level wind so left those options out.

As for the rods, an Ugly stick bluewater will do quite fine for this type of thing or the other major brands in that price range.

hey mate id go the tyrnos i have the 30 and the 50 both loaded with 130lbs just to skull drag the sharks from the beach still havnt christened the 50 yet but the 30 got me a 3.5m bronzie out on the boat and still towd us 3.5 mile out in half hour.even the tekota with the level wind is a great reel for bottom bouncing trolling and jigging.

another brilliant reel is the fin-nor marquesa ive got 1000m of pe4 loaded

+2 marquesa, nothing against the other mentioned reels.  I have been bottom bashing trolling for about 2 years with my marquesa 20 and really rate it.

ive got the tyrnos 30 aswell and its tough as nails for trolling though i would get a smaller model like the 20 but the 30 also makes a good lbg reel for big sharks mainly because of the line capacity
