A danger.
Just a quick message to those who persist in dropping their cray pots in the North or South leaders out of Ocean Reef and Hillarys marinas.
PLEASE DONT...
As member of Sea Rescue, it makes our job even more difficult when we have to negotiate around cray floats to get to a vessel in need of assistance.
The main purpose of having the leaders is to ensure a SAFE entry and exit from the marinas to clear water beyond the reef system.
When we are travelling into the sun from these marinas to assist someone, the floats are extremely hard to pick up in the glare on the ocean.
The last thing we and the owners of the distressed vessel need, is a delay due to having ropes around the props.
So please, if you are or know of anyone dropping pots in these areas, please find another spot.
After all, one day you maybe the one that is waiting for us to untangle the ropes.
Thank you, a happy and safe christmas to you all.....
Cheers & Stay safe

Fisheries should be dealing
Fisheries should be dealing with this.
Dropping pots in a navigable channel is an offence, usually dealt with by them in Gero by pulling the pots and a notice on the Fisheries office window to collect
Give a man a mask, and he'll show you his true face...
The older you get the more you realize that no one has a f++king clue what they're doing.
Everyone's just winging it.

Not OR/Hillaries but noticed
Not OR/Hillaries but noticed someone dropped their pots in the Shortcut through the reefs near Herring bay at GI
I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that they didn't know it's a popular thoroughfare but the rope wont last long there

I hit one of those on the way
I hit one of those on the way back in yesterday morning that I didn't spot against the sun glair. couldn't believe it was right in the middle of the channel with about 7m of rope on the surface. Luckily for them it didn't chop, but I did go back and check it to tie of a float if needed.

those dropping their pots in
those dropping their pots in these locations are the first polesmokers on here to complain about stolen pots.
More like cut ropes from prop tangles
It akin to parking your car in the middle of mitchell freeway...its gunna get hit
