Dampier species hotspot - NOT
After work Friday with the wind (not tide) looking great headed out for a semi night fish.
Almost as soon as the lines went down, zzzzzz on the Mrs Saragosa 8000. Ha ha Ha was the thought - shark. But no, a nice size fish appear beside the boat, boga'd on on we went. Almost next drop zzzzzzzzz, again same story, bloody thing runs like a shark on the lightish drag.
In the meantime I am playing with Lacunas jigs and caught two nice triggers but nothing sweet.
zzzzzzzzzzzz goes the Mrs line. Same story with a fat 8kg on the boga fish onboard.
Now I want to play to, so down goes the snelled Mulie on a light drift type rig. Zzzzzzzzzzzzz my turn. Same story.
Now not to bore anyone but there is a problem here. Finally between the 2 off us -- Score 5 to Mrs, 2 to me. No other species of note caught. A few NW U/size snapps and a few sharks, including a turbo version off a 6ft sluggish lemon shark. These things fight like a boring dead wt and had no idea what was on.
Now the problem. Even thought we had a ball because these fish fight like hell, but we struck out. All of the Stinking Fat Sweetlips!!
Normally you find the odd one and you will then say -- good ground, but we found the bloody capital for these not even neighbours fish. All released in Sweet time.
Has any other northern fishos managed to Score a run off these pesky fish?

it's depressing when you hook
it's depressing when you hook those sweetlips, you score an awesome fight and you're thinking big snapper or red then the sweetlip breaks the surface. Never had a run of them in one sitting though, i would have moved.
