And was arrested by a local marine assessor Gerry Woodcock who was required to nail the arrest warrant to the mast. But it didn't actually have a mast so he had to tape it on. the second sinking was very suspect !
Of them investigated . They found bungs out . ( insurance job ?) pretty sure d9 was responsible for sucking up all ballast from ships( limestone) and scattering it in middle of sound ( hence the name gravel patch). Could be wrong
I was using the satellite setting on my maps on me phone the other day having a look at the sound and yeah you can see in the middle real clear that the spread of rock on the bottom is in a almost like pattern formation ,like it was put there , looks cool might be what you were talking about johnny
Ballast it use to form big lumps ( pinnys) of limestone. D9 use to come along suck them up and scatter them in middle of sound ( what I was told) true or not unsure. The bubbles out front off alcoa . Use to be fresh water coming from underground fresh hitting salt water use to cause bubbles. Didn’t happen all the time . Once again only what I was taught. One of the old timers who I fished with when I was young fished it for many years . Always caught pinks on spot . Some days it use to fizz like mad apparently ? Never seen it fizz who knows ?. I suppose all industry now have recovery bores shoreline. This could have stopped flow of fresh water entering the sound ?
Really odd coming up to them whilst diving as the fresh distorts light due to different water density. the sand in those areas actually moves like bubbling

I'd actually forgotten about the gravel patches, I now remember being told about them about 30 years ago and they were the place to go for pinkies.

There are at least three aquifers that flow into the Sound
