CRC Silicone Spray on Fishing Reels

Hi everyone

Does anybody know if it's good or safe to spray your fishing reel on the outside and outside moving parts with CRC Silicone Spray.

I normally use WD40 as I have a fishing book that says to use a water displacing spray on the reel to keep it in good nick.

The Silicone spray is a lot less oilier but not sure how it affects a reel's external moving parts and finish.

sillicone spray is will not dissolve plastic and hurt rubber like WD-40 can, sillicone sprays more of a lubricant, still try not get either of them on use line, doubt fish like the smell of it, i use inox myself as its sort of a lubricant like sillicone spray, a excellent water dispersant, and far less harm on plastic than wd-40

still i've got the metal bodied 650 ss spinfisher so i dount know about plastic

but sillicone doesnt hurt plastic

used it on guns and reels

i used it on guns and they are great to preserve them and prevent greasy mark on barrels and other parts,

tried to use it on my reels, wouldn't bother doing it often as it is a pain to prevent it from getting on the line (makes your braid get all shiny if it gets on there), however i use it when storing a reel that i won't use for a while, preserves them perfectly and you can use them straight out of the cupboard when you get them out!!
