crays in the rocks
went out for a spot of squidding tonight.. and starting jigging next to some young anglers.
about 2 hours into it, they spotted 2 large crays and got all excited, one of the fellas floated a prawn on a hook near the cray, of which it latched onto
and tugged relentlessly (and NO he didnt deliberatly jig it). they managed to pull it up and measured it at 102mm (75mm i think is legal), and there was a second on that was larger under the same rock..
now my quesion is. with the appropriate licences would these kids been able to keep their catch? i dint know what to say to them, if i should have said anything..
but i was proud to see them release the cray as they were unsure of the rules and regulations..
needless to say it was quite funny to see the girl handling the cray (very well) and the two other fellas freaking out. hahahaha

They would need a cray
They would need a cray license, and legal capture method.

If they had a licence and
If they had a licence and the capture method doesnt damage the cray i believe its perfectly legal. Certainly caught blues like that and told fisheries upon being checked with no adverse comments. Also thereis no mention of using a claw or gloves when diving i think?

Nice pickup wangler!
The fisheries guys would have had to have had a bad day to give them a ticket, but yeah, you're dead right, no crayfish are to be caught between 6pm and 6am!
