CRABBING in Mandurah

Hi crabbers have you tried the new Willie Hook instead of the old scoop net, read on

Breakin’ crab net poles? .Breakin’ the crab to pieces?Havin’ to replace nets ?  The mud bin’ stirred up & U can’t seeMissin’ your catch?  .Havin’ nets clutter the boat.

WELL HERE’S YOUR ANSWER     THE WILLIEHOOK

No more stirred mud that you can’t see past,  No clutter on deckNo more brokin’ / bent or rusty nets  No more brokin’ poles HISTORYThis system has bin’ around for hundreds of years, started with the fork of a tea tree,This stainless steel hook will last a lifetime (the next hundred years). HOW IT WORKS

It’s so easy, within’ a few moments,  U will be an expert, never miss another crab,.NO damage to the crab, it’s the ducks nuts and the best way to catch ‘em. When you see the catch, sum it up for size, slowly place the hook at the back of the crab (just behind one of his claw arm’s) FIG 1.His arm’s will be out to greet U , slowly pull the hook toward you, pull the hook out of the water vertically and you will find the crab caught in the hook FIG 2.Tip the hook over the ( now near) full bucket and thrust down, the crab will fall away into the bucket FIG 3 (no more crabs dangling from the net and you havin’ to bash them off).

BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE NO maintenance (might have to bend the hook after the big rock catch)NO need to wash the hook (it’s stainless).NO need to be rough or go like a mad man, just take your time.NO mud stirred up, if U miss, have another go U mug (ya …..Can’t do that with a net???).MORE TAKE HOME CATCH.EASY STORAGE IN BOAT OR CAR LIFE TIME CATCHER     (comes with destructions) LESS TIME OUT IN THE WATER MORE TIME BACK DRINKIN’ AND MUNCHIN’ CRAB.

WARNING  :  THIS DEVICE CAN TAKE YOU OVER THE BAG LIMIT IN  A SHORT  TIME

good idea and works fine on the muddies.......but could see a few blue manners swimming around with one claw after they drop thier hooked claw and head for the weed.

There will be legless and monoleg crabs everywhere. Probably a good concept if used correctly, but you dont have to look to hard here in Mandurah to see the damaging effects it could have, especially by novices and children. There are already heaps of de-clawed crabs out there already, and thats just through the use of drop nets and scoops, and rough nuts shaking the s**t of them, to release them back to the water.

Just my view, not knocking the product in any way!

 my friends

the hook does less damage to a crab than scoop nets, how many claws have been broken just trying to get it out of the net, the hook is passed by fisheries the end is blunt as to not pierce the shell or someones foot, yes you will get the occasional wife hitting the drunk fisherman with it.

yes you do get a soft shell now and again and the net usually squashes them to death at least the claw will grow back.

Crab hooks

Thu, 2010-02-04 13:12

My Dad used to make these - they were the only way we knew how to catch crabs without drop nets. He didn't use stainless steel though - usually just some 3/8" rod.

Crabs seldom dropped their claw - if you operate the hook properly, you only have the crab out of the water for about 2 seconds till you drop him in the bucket.

We used to catch buckets at a time - the old kerosene drums - in ankle deep water at low tide at Ardrossan and Black Point in SA...

Great fun!

yes your right , my dad

yes your right , my dad showed me as well 65 years ago using fencing wire, they have been around for many years they used a tea tree fork in the early days.

the patent pending and the tradmark registration is about the design and the name  WILLIE HOOK (R), you can not patent a hook but you can patent a shape etc of the hook, thats all I have done, taken somthing that our fathers showed us and did it better, stainless steel , wont rust, easy strorage etc. scoop nets kill more crabs as they crush them due to in accuracy of the catcher.

Looks like a bit of a commercial post, to delete or not to delete.  Then again, if your not smart enough to be able to make one yourself, then maybe you should pay for one... Undecided

I can just see the lawsuits coming when a child manages to spear themselves with this "design", let alone as previously mentioned above the effect upon the crab population when the legs get broken.

A simple idea that could sell

Sun, 2011-02-06 10:05

A simple idea that could sell well ,,easy enough to make your own but some folks will find it easier to just buy one,,

I would be promoteing it at the Mandurah crab festival and try and get it into tackle shops, people buy pvc rodholders from the tackle shop even tho it takes a few minutes to make your own,,,no difference here,,
