Coral bay marlin
Hey mate
We have done alot of trolling for billies out from coral bay.
For blacks i would suggest cruising out south passage, and troll between 60-75mts. Working your way north. We have had a lot of luck in this depth.
Lures are all personal choice but the 2 i always run in the spread are, the richter soft oscar in pink/white (absolute gun lure for blacks) and a lumo JB.
Definitely worth running a teaser aswell...
Hope this helps abit
Cheers

Hodge has it spot on imo.
Hodge has it spot on imo. Both with location and lures. Only thing I would add would be to not be afraid to run a very large dark lure on short corner. We get about half our good fish in this position on lures oversized for the fish we normally see. Also plenty of Wahoo around that time of year so I would be running wire. We think that the there is a good local population of Blacks in Coral Bay that is not taken advantage of too often with Exmouth just up the road. In our only dedicated game fishing day out of Coral Bay last year we went 9/4/2 on blacks in 5 hours of trolling with one being est 150kg. If you see us at the tables please come say hi. We might be able to let you know where we have found them lately and would be keen to know how you go.

So how is everyone going? Arrived today and took a look at those spanglies in the shallows begging for a trip out of the sanctuary.

The enteramce at Mauds is boggy as hell. Breeze is blowing along the beach so wasn’t too appealing yesterday.
saw A biiiig trout at a very public spot yesterday. Dangled crabs and squid in front of it and no interest. Damn the no spear rule.
