Flies are everywhere atm
People are complaining about the flies in Kalbarri-they are atrocious. Worst I can remember them for April. Then they head north and find they are just as bad everywhere up there.. Unfortunate combination of lots of late summer/autumn rain and persistent warm temperatures are an ideal combination for flies hatching.

Cyclone
They showed up straight after the cyclone came to visit and are in plague proportions.
Forget aeroguard and all those repellents, the little bastards eat it, the fly net is definitely the way to go.

I was at Hope Downs 4 a month or so ago and they were as bad as anything I've ever seen before. Nets were the only way to go.

I am in coral bay at the moment too. Flies are shocking and were the same in exmouth. Nets are the only things that make it possible to be outside...but our 2 year old wont wear one

Flies again
Wouldnt count on them going till there is a weather change. The moths and butterflies were thinning out while i was there so there life cycle had run it's course.
I thought flies only lived for 5 days or so. There is still water in the low lying areas so if something is wet and decomposing then the flies will breed.
Good luck with staying sane. 2 months of them in your eyes and ears.

Cyclone
Good chance of another cyclone forming in next couple of days, one can only hope that it isn't a bad one and blows the flies back where they came from

Steep point
just returned from Steep Point the flies are camping there to, fly nets keep you sane but still hard work from sunrise to sunset , the points worse than the the camping sites along the beach area or stopping on the track to let your tyres down. Just out of control

Cheers Adam
Yeh the Mermaid boys did well. We did a Day/Nighter with them and where able to get to some of our better ground further south. Did very well. Few 10kg+ reds which are getting very very rare these days and a nice trout to top it off.
Sorry Jarrid, the boys just got in the good weather window, we have had a bit of a average run with weather and ever since Olwyn, just nor-eastlys too wich dont help the flies, But since Quang it has started to swing back to the normal sou-westers now so hopefully a few more better days ahead.

Flies
Still plenty in Carnarvon so one would expect them to be the same in Coral Bay, bring a fly net to be sure.
