Very good table fare. Better than mackie, equivalent of spango on my list.

they are tops, easy to fillet and freeze really good.
Took some out of my freezer after 6 months to give to the dogs a while back while cooking snapper.
Chucked a small piece in the pan and it was perfect, not a neighbour fish unless I was your neighbour

Had some fresh on the last trip, bloody beautiful. Firm white flesh, pan fried in butter with a squeeze of lemon juice. Glass of Riesling and you're in business.....

Ha ha nah mate, good quality bottled stuff. Anything around the 2008 yr mark, it needs to be slightly aged IMO

Yummo
Anyway - sashimi, beer battered, pan fried, oven baked etc.
Best pelagic tasting fish. Only a few demersals better.

Fresh
Eat fresh, equal to Makie as above. After freezing, the flesh tends to break down a little & lose some texture & flavour. Still edible but not as good, similar to Dolly after freezing but slightly better.
Enjoy
cheers Rob

I recently caught an 8kg specimen up at Steep, not bad to eat but I reckon they have a bit of a bitter taste to the flesh. My fish had ben frozen.
