Stick 'em in the washing machine mate on a cold, short cycle.

OMO small & mighty should do the trick.

 Although the SW Stella

Sun, 2011-11-06 16:05

Although the SW Stella series is 'sealed' I did note what I think was some water intrusion after rinsing my reels off in the shower! In my case the reels needed a good rinsing as they had been sprayed with a good amount of salt water during the day. I'm thinking the water got in around the shaft after I gave the reels a good cranking while wet to 'fling' some the water off. So perhaps a wipe down would be better. Be careful not to let water into the drag stack. Follow with a light spray of your favorite protectant e.g. INOX.

Yeah not a good idea to take

Yeah not a good idea to take them in the shower with you imo. Hot water and too much pressure. Just give it a quick spray with a bottle or the light hose setting, then some Tackle Guard when it is dry.

 where can ypu get Tackle

Sun, 2011-11-06 18:08

where can ypu get Tackle Guard from??  I've always used INOX which seems to do the trick.

For what its worth I usually line all my rods up and they get a hose down and a soap when we clean the boat, then wiped dry and a light spray of INOX.  For reels, Stellas included get a low pressure spray and a rub down.  Wipe them down till dry then a light spray

plain water on low pressure ...bit of lube ..loosen drag in storage...unless because it's a stella you want to use special holy water...it's not rocket science

More questions

Do you guys not worry about getting Inox, or Tackle Guard or whatever you use on your line?  I owuld have thought Braid would really soak that stuff up.  Do you cover the line, remove the spool (then the spool does not get it) or just go for it?

I normally tighten the drag right up, a light spray with the hose, wash with warm soapy water then rinse off.
