Christmas Cactus

Not fishing related but I thought the nature lovers would like this.
The cactus straddles our fence on both sides so the neighbours get their own dislay also. The plant flowers annually and the flowers only come out for about 24 hours. It's timed things well this year for Xmas. It always amazes me when it flowers.

It sure is Terry
I was tempted to remove the cactus a couple of years ago. That is until the neighbour's wife started crying LOL. Ugly things have their beauty side.

Err
Err you lost me with that last sentence Vince. Are you referring to the cactus or the neighbour?

LOL Big John
The neighbours wife is quite a stunner for her age just like her 3 daughters LOL. On a points table she rates a 9 while my wife obviously tops the tables at 10.
The cactus is an ugly shit of a thing until it flowers LOL.

Fruit
Does it get fruit on it after it flowers. If so they are pretty nice,
It looks like a dragon fruit to me, but I cant be sure. If it gets a funny red looking egg shape on it let it keep sitting till the flower is completely dead and when you pull it it easily comes off the fruit. Havvest the fruit and eat the insides, lovely stuff

No Fruit Chris
The flowers develop into extentions of the branch. The flowers last a day and then wilt. Today I have a new batch and that will probably be it for this year.

Dragon Fruit
They do look very similar to the dragon fruit flower, my dad grows 2 varieties a red and a white, I think he said that the flower opens at night as he heads out and pollinates them to help the process
Got to get out there!
