Mr White was cruising around
Mr White was cruising around the D9 today, putting on a show !
Towed one boat, forcing the skipper to cut his anchor rope, smashing a fish or fish frame that was thrown into the water and gave a couple of guys a good scare when it came up for good close look at the back of their boat.
Water Police, Fisheries Research and 2 other Fisheries boats in close proximity keep a close eye on things...
Would love to see some of the video several boats took !

thanks kaney68
a bet some people did a quick change of under wear when they got to shore i think throwing food to Mr White could possibly lead him/her to associate boats with free tucker and this could have bad consiquences, having him/her come up right along side your boat on a dark night in the sound could be real exciting i don't think. there is a post on this site that some guy has already had a close encounter of the scary kind.

Mate of mine had a good fish
Mate of mine had a good fish taken at the D9 Sat night. Approx 4m White poked its head and shoulder out of the water and showed off the snapper in its jaws.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

GW Tagging
yeah I would've thought now is prime time to get some tagging happening ...wasn't that the plan...how many GW's are actually out there at the moment be nice to know...it's taken them a couple of weeks to get a media warning out maybe they should read these forums for info...school holidays mixed with warm weather next week , maybe they should put some warning signs up on the beaches along that stretch if thats not too hard...my kids usually swim at coogee, not any more

Sound Snaps & GW!
Every year is the same with GW's (normally a few) & Bronzys in the Sound and yes schooling snapper attracts them.....part of the food chain.....has been for years!
I was out there on my boat Monday and after speaking to the Fisheries Research boat he said they were trying to catch & tag a GW at the D9!
Obviously at the same time they plan to tag a few snapper which gets the GW around!!!
The F/Research boat also said the other boat ie the Fisheries were also there for surveillance etc and they are working in conjuction with the F/Research re Tagging a GW!
As for Fisheries Research Pink Snapper tagging, thats left mainly to Danny Wimpress and myself for the Cockburn Sound. We catch/tag/check sex/check spawning status and release!
The data we have compiled for Fisheries Research over the last 10 years in awesome and were getting a big insight to biomas, spawning patters, recruitment and tagging recapture info so the program is well worth it!
Any questions as for GW tagging etc direct that to Ian Keay/Fisheries Research Hillarys as thats his department
