Can you cast with a all rollered rod???

Hey

i just got a 15kg all rollered backbone from a mate, and i was just wondaring can you cast with an all rollered rod??

Kayaking would be the go!

if off a pier i have heard of people pulling about 50m of line off the reel and rod so its like a hand line and swinging and swinging until that get enough momentum then release it, the bait flys off and then lands in the water.

or you can balloon.

casting is possible but their is a chance the line will fall between the rollers and frey but it is fine for everything else ie ballooning

Only way you can cast a rollered rod

is to do it perfectly perpendicular otherwise the line will skip the rollers and snag up. I wouldn't recommend it at all.

 

Perfect for ballooning and trolling though.

It may depend upon whether you are using braid or mono.  Either way if you can slip the mono or braid line between the roller and the frame of the guide, then I would suggest casting is fraught with danger.  Having said that fully roller rods were never designed for casting but that doesn't mean it is not possible, just not ideal.
