campfires on the beach?

was thinking how well a camp fire would go with an overnight fishing trip in winter. Is this allowed anywhere and if so how far out of perth would it have to be? I plan on getting an old webber bbq putting it on the sand and having the fire in this so im able to take all the mess away with me. Any chance of getting away with that?

cheers

Generally not allowed

Hey mate - most places you go camp fires are not permitted, but outside of the metropolitan area as long as you are sensible you won't have any dramas. We usually dig a fire pit and keep the fire to a reasonable size - have never had any problems.

Plenty of places north of Two Rocks where you will be able to have a camp fire.

And drench it with plenty of water to put it out, just chucking sand on there might douse the flames, but will not get rid of the heat in the sand. If someone steps in it the next day, it will be bad news for that person.

Cheers

hey mate as buschy said,

hey mate

as buschy said, keep it small and no probs.

we allways have a fire when  we do overnighters at preston... 1 night there was some people whith a bomb fire going and they got busted(i think, the fire was out quickly)

about 1hr later the ranger come past us and said nothing(maybe coinsedence) our fire was in a very deep hole and was quite small.

have done this many times with no probs.

we normally have a car each side as a wind break and pitch a tent or two in the middle.

but as everyone has said..no fires allowed!

weber

I use a weber, no legs and heat beads. Nothing like a nice roast pork shoulder whilst fishing. The fact that heat beads emit less light helps with the night vision too, makes watching the rod tip a bit easier.
