Busso Fishing Spots
Submitted by shaw_catch on Sun, 2010-08-15 21:14
Hey Guys,
Going to Busso this week with the boss lady. Never fished there before, i'm told the jetty is good, but if you get a good fish, goodluck if you don't have a cliff gaff?
Are there any other good spots, and are there any salmon down there at the moment?
Any tips??
Cheers

Salmon
You might be lucky to get a straggler salmon but more likely to get salmon trout around Rocky Point[ south end of Bunker bay] plus herring, whiting and some skippy.
Eagle bay will have whiting, herring and the odd skippy same goes for Meelup and Castle rock bay.
Dunsborough, Quindalup and Silver Sands , herring whiting [ chance of KGs] and the odd squid.
Mitchells rock, Torpedo rock,Yallingup and Sugarloaf , herring reef fish, skippy and a chance of tailor.
The jetty should have a few crabs about, squid and herring with a chance of a bonito on live yellowtail out by the ned if its been re opened.
Hope this helps.

Jetty not re opened yet. I
Jetty not re opened yet. I think you can go out the first 100m or so. But thats really just crab territory. Might pick up a mulloway if you want to brave the storms.

True about the cliff gaff...
but I don't think you'll need one because as far as i am aware the jetty is still closed apart from the first 50 metres or so. It may be different now as that was when we were there in February.
Carnarvonite has given you good info but there may also be the odd winter tailor down around Wonnerup way.
All said if land based any beach will provide some nice sand whiting if you want some fish.
