Broome Hopefully!

Gday lads!

was sitting at home thinking abou what to do during the uni holidays and decided with chrissy and my Bday coming up hopefully i can tease the parents into helping me pay for a weeks fishing up in Boome mainly chasing barra! ive been looking at some charters and barra addict seems to be the goods! anybody been on this charter before?

probably staying at the cable beach backapackers and ive been told the beach there is fishable so any input on that would be great! the jetty will also be an option if its still fishable!

any other suggestions regarding spots charters etc?

cheers

Kurt from barraddict is a top bloke and offers a great charter out of Eco Beach. Go during neap tides for the best fishing.

long drive each way for a day trip though. Stay in one of the tents for a night. They do good specials on the garden view tents.

Dunno if this helps

I was up there a few weeks ago and could only get on West Kimberly charters.  I wasnt too fussed as to what sort of fishing I did just as long as I was out there.  The guy who runs it said the tides werent right for the barra so we went out and got some black jew and blue nose salmon plus a heap of other bits and pieces.  The fishing was all pretty close to broome and it was only a half day tour, he has a 6m boat so you have to help him launch it, some people grumbled a bit but I thought it was all part of the experience small boat charters are rare in the southern part of the state, I was even pulling the anchor for him.

So if your just after Barra check with them that the tides will be ok as it might be a waste of time.  As for land based not so sure cable beach would be too productive but therre are some fishy looking rocks out at guantenemeae (spelling) point that would probably be worth a spin

town was also pretty quiet as its getting out of tourist season now, the croc park was well worth a look some big beasts in there

I have used both FishBroome and West Kimberley. Do yourself a favour and use FishBroome.

They guys at Tackleworld Broome can probably give you the best advice. I have always found them very helpful.

With the recent closures of the commercial netting in Roebuck bay, fishing has improved already. Landbased, head around to crab creek rd(infront of bird observatory to crab ck)  and throw lures at the masses of salmon, gt's, queenies, barra that can be reached by foot now in the shallows... follow the birds and watch the tides. :) Even walk out to the channel of dampier ck on low tide for good fishing too .... As for charters, not too sure as dont use them. Jetty will always produce the goods too this time of year with all types of species being caught. Even Barra. Bloody hot too so enjoy. :)

G'day Marky hope the fishings been good to you. The netters don't finish up for good until the end of this month, so will take a little longer to improve but will be worth the wait.
Cheers Rob

makes me laugh how a charter

Thu, 2013-11-28 19:32

makes me laugh how a charter operator might have a bad day but he has to hear about it months or maybe years later..... bundyrum.
AOC, West Kimberley and Slims Barra Charters still operating, Barraddict may be if eco beach is not closed for the season (usually mid jan on). oh yer, you might want to look at an air con option if staying at eco beach that time of year, it can get a little warm.
