Broken rod exchange
Was out fishing a few weeks ago and managed to snap my 3.0m med/heavy ugly stick. It broken on the female section right were the male part stopped. took it back to the shop I bought it from (no docket) was purchased with a gift voucher. Explained to the manager how it broke in the act of casting a tailor rig with a medium size star sinker. Was pretty much told no way possible and that I must have got it stuck in door or it was run over. After waiting a couple of weeks for the rep for rod company to have a look, he said the rod broke from misuse and not covered by warranty. After a long chat with the store manager (cut a long story) he agreed to exchange rod. He didn't want a dissatisfied customer and any possible bad publicity. So to Micheal at BCF in Cannington thank you. There are still customers out there who aren't bullshitting and some times rods fail just because a rep hasn't seen it before doesn't mean it can't happen. Now I've got a 3.6m ugly stick Don't make the 3,0m's anymore I wonder why?

Funnily enough, the only rod I've every snapped was an ugly stick... Was replaced though *thumbs up*
(excepting a poor rod that is one of my favourites has twice had its tip snapped off in the car :'( Obviously user error on that one though...)

Snapped
Once snapped an old Abu Garcia rod because the top section wasnt pushed all the way on to the bottom section. Loaded it up on a salmon and... BANG
The sound that baby made when it let go was unbelievable. Nearly a brown undie incident.
I did then the best that I knew how. When I knew better, I did better.

Thanks for the heads up
Thanks for the heads up bradz have only recently purchased my first 2 piece rod and has not been used in anger. I can see that if the 2 section don't mesh fully a breakage could occur, and the rod i have is tight to seat properly and remove. Not saying that is what happened Wes but would do the trick in a nano second.
Can a lub be used to help or graphite powder for those really tight fits ? I needed a mate to hold one end just to pull apart the first couple of times.

I had a 12' Ugly Stik Platinum break once under load
About 6" above the join. No fuss, no bother, the Rep replaced the rod. Now it's been retired for a graphite model LOL.

Musta been a dodgy Ugly, I've punished the 3 I have, I've absolutely turned them inside out, and they just keep going and going and going. Nice to see they helped you out with another though.
Cheers
