Not much luck
Was out last Saturday. Usual spot between Graham Farmer and south of Herrison Island. Nothing happening then. Hopefully, will have a bit more luck tomorrow. Might see you out there

Boat or land based.
Are you out on a boat or off the shore?

I am, as I've said, merely competent. But in an age of incompetence, that makes me extraordinary.

Hey davidbland 50,

Hey rails8291,
I was down the river on sunday with my 7yo nephew. We fished at a jetty just upstream from Tranby house in Maylands and got quite a few Bream plus the odd Trumpeter and Grunter. We mostly got rat sized Bream but I did pick up a couple of size fish and have done there in the past too so it's worth having a crack oh and the nephew got a few fish too so he was stoked. The fish always seem to hang downstream side of the jetty or straight down on it, I've never missed going there.

Still some good ones around Guildford
I take my five year old there and the biggest Bream we've caught (he's caught) was 38cm and the secret to them not getting bored is using squid of all things. I've lost hundreds of dollars of prawns there, seems the little fish grab them before the grandads do. I've found with the squid, you can cast out into the open snag free water, the little ones come and have a pick, drawing the attention of the bigger fish and they practically hook themselves! A long shank hook, a strip of tube wound over the end and you don't spend all your time rebaiting and pulling line out of the logs and the trees.
The last ten fish we've caught over 30cm have all been on squid. Don't tell any bastard. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the help and
Thanks for the help and advice guys it's been much appreciated, I'll keep all these ideas for when I take him out next time, we went out this morning for about 3 hours had a blast, the young fella caught his first bream, ( baby) and the usual 10-15 blowies, unlike myself I hate catching those blowies but to him it was cool fun, that's all that mattered. Will try these other spots at a later date.
Thanks to all
Rick

The squid idea, I will have
The squid idea, I will have to try Bigdunc. We put the tinnie in at Maylands yesterday and no matter where we pulled up
the little bream were prolific. We were lucky to have our bait in the water for 30 seconds before it was gone or engulfed
by undersized fish with big appetites. Great fun for the kiddies tho.
