Braid twist
Submitted by fab on Sun, 2013-07-07 18:56
Hey guys, heading up to exmouth in a few weeks, (can't wait). Was setting up my spin stick for lures and soft plastics, and was wondering if i need to run a swivel anywhere along my main line. I have 10kg braid on my reel, and will be casting all day. Will line twist be an issue? Any feedback would be awsome! Cheers Fab

Shouldn't be as long as your
Shouldn't be as long as your lures don't spin when your retrieving them, which they also shouldn't be. I've been lure casting with braid for years, never using a swivel & have never had a single problem with line twist.
because of the comment below I'll also add that your casting technique needs to be good. If your casting is up the creek you could potentially experience problems.

Yes it will twist..
… I used to have the same issue throwing lures with braid and no swivel with some serious line wraps, which I sorted out with a swivel.
Make sure it's the right size for the class of line, don't try go too big or else it won't work properly, also get some descent ones, and NOT the brass type

Line twist
Hi mate,
Attaching your braided line to your leader is fine with out a swivel. If you were to cast Twisty's then simply attach a small ball bearing swivel the split ring at the nose of the twisty. Also try to ensure the line roller on your reel is spinning freely when retrieving line as this will help eliminate twisting too.
