Boat Lifting ????
Submitted by pharlap on Thu, 2013-01-31 12:31
Guys this coming winter I have more work to do on my trailer so I need the boat off the trailer for an indefinate period.
I have a 300 odd sq mtr commercial trussed shed, is it possible to lift an 18ft Fibreglass runabout with a 130 HP Johnson outboard off the trailer with a block and tackle, then set it back down stayed up onto a stack of tyres on the concrete floor of the shed ?
Cheers.

Just roll it off
onto some tyres, easy.

doubt anyone can answer that
doubt anyone can answer that without know what the shed structure can support.
Do as wangler said and just roll it off onto a few tyres, Ive done it with a 21 footer, its not hard.
Also without a spreader bar or very long slings there will be large inward forces on the gunwhales

Agree with Rob inward frces
Agree with Rob inward frces could crack or crush hull i would do as said roll it off lots tyres and some stays to keep it vertical. Go down the boat lifters and check out how they support the sides of the vessels and it should be pretty easy on a small boat like that.
