boat fishing this weekend - what/where

Hi, planning to take the boat out one day this weekend to do some fishing. Have really done very little (boating and fishing) so wondering if anyone had some suggestions on what to target and where? Obviously not looking for lats/lons just just rough areas and what species to go for. Nothing too adventurous and not wanting to head very far out, just a relaxing day on the water and hopefully a few fish.

cheers,

Rob

try the windmills before rottnest or parmelia bank- can have some good KGW (and squid at Parmelia). Also not far out and can launch at woodies.

 Sorry for the late reply.

Sorry for the late reply. When anchoring and belying depths from 10-20m of water. Looks for ledges lumps with activity on them. Berley up by cubing up miles and getting a steady flow like 4-6 cubes every 30-60 seconds. Use 60-80lb leader. Have a swivel with a length of trace about 60cm down to a snell or gang of hooks. Any bait I good from whole squid mullet fillet mulies ect. Also run a rod on the bottom just inade a dhuie is hanging under the boat. Best of luck. Pm of you want anymore info :)

Thanks Dhuvinile, we ended up

Thanks Dhuvinile, we ended up messing around in cockburn sound, got some nice whiting for dinner (which for us is success!). We just anchored over some sand/weed and threw in some burley but got plagued by blowies and trumpeter. So moved about 100m away, no berley this time, and started catching whiting. A few other boats turned up later and started fishing close by, but they were all drifting rather than anchoring, is this a better tactic? We did drop some pre-made snapper rigs down with squid at one point but they got destroyed by pickers. Getting slightly more adventurous with each trip out so will maybe try ffb next time!
