Bloody Unions

Fkn Unions marching on the place where 3 people died?? Dogs IMO. The families would not want to have the death of their loved ones used as a political pawn.
How sick!

Saw that this morning as well
They should just march to the crane site and be done with it.Would be like having a rally against lock outs on Anzac day and swing past the dawn service just for the publicity.
So tell me have you got your info from years on the water or hours on the internet?

Well, I don't exactly see the owners doing much about it, but then I don't also hate unions.

The owners and the building company cant do much
until the three investigations are complete. It is the same as a union site if there is a death in the work place. It shuts down until the investigation is complete.
So tell me have you got your info from years on the water or hours on the internet?

Well why the Fk upset the families
I would be enraged If the death of my 2 kids plus and overseas engineers was used for Political mileage. I just think this suxs dogs balls.
They would not get this much attention if they marched somewhere else. Tell me thats not using the dead people.

I rememeber
my late father saying to me when I got my first job. "Daughter if you could trust the boss, you wouldn't need a Union." That always stuck with me and I always was in a Union. I must agree with some Unions that are so far out there that they would strike for a thicker tiolet paper, to me that was absolutely rediculous. Unions are their for the workers safetly, fair wages for a fair days pay and good running of a business, as if you have good reliable workers that are happy, work well, then businesses also prosper.

Good and bad
Some do some good others years back had reps who thought they were Gods.
Rang the union up to have a talk with an organiser in the company car park, day arrives, blokes assembled and the organiser goes straight in to company office first before seeing us. Next day as coming of night shift, foreman has a gentle word in my ear---talk to unions again and say goodbye to job.
Couple of years later, different company, same industry but new technology and nothing in place for new classification of control room operators. Rep went straight past assembled blokes and in to office but when he came out no one there, a note on top of post telling him we were on strike for 48 hours and to let office know we were not happy with his conduct towards us. New meeting 3 days later and rep went straight to office again, another 48 hour strike and phone calls to head of AWU telling why.
Next meeting new rep comes straight to carpark and gets our message before going to company office.
The AWU is probably the reason why the mineral sands industry is the lowest paid mining workers in WA by far.
When working as a slaughterman many years back, the unions worked hard and we were earning bloody good money but had to work hard for it, now I believe the pay and conditions are crap

Consultation
Usually there is some sort of consultation between the family and the unions before an event like this happens. Its all to bring it to the media and governments attention tat the company has been remiss of its duties towards its employees safety and In hope of preventing it occurring again

just a question
Does anyone know if the families involved have/had been contacted by the unions or anyone else, and what are their oppinions on the march or what ever went on. I have not read or seen anything on tv about it.
I just think that a quote from those directly involved would be nice and resolve a lot of speculation

Do some construction work in Melbourne. Nothing but standover tactics and justify their jobs in a 3 hour induction by explaining you won't have a lunch shed and free instant coffee if it weren't for them. You don't have to sign up either, but if you don't, every move you make will be deemed unsafe and the site will be closed until further notice. Subbies love it, if they somehow manage to get on site. Apparently small business owners like myself make millions. Obviously Ive had some dealings with them also.

i repeat my question
does anyone know if the families where asked about whatever went on, and if so what did they say. all the above comments on the matter of 3 deaths and what a union has done is pure speculation if no one can put up a quote from the families involved

I got out of the building
I got out of the building industry due to union tactics. I recently had to do some work for my main client on their new premises and had to jump through untold hoops. But you need them for balance otherwise the smarmy builders would run amok with their workers and contractors. I've seen both through the years non union sites (usually shit every where and someone breathing down your neck to rush the job) and unionised where you can't do jack without getting the site labourers permission. I would still like info on the latest issue.

See above
But just google wall collapse union march. lots of articles.
I didnt want this post to be a union basher, rather just wanted to point out something very distasteful IMO.
