Bloody dog activated my personal epirb

Got back from a gnarloo trip about a week ago and as per normal with camping trips, had to wash and dry everything before putting away again. Mrs comes home this morning and says, "what's that beeping sound"
turns out the 5 month old Labrador puppy has managed to grab my personal epirb off the back table, remove it from its case and then undo the aerial to activate it. Upon noticing I had a missed call from search and rescue (thanks to them for the prompt response and understanding)
i felt a little embarrassed to be using the old "my dog ate my homework" type of excuse. Bloody Labradors! Been around them all my life and it never ceases to amaze me how smart but naughty they can sometimes be.

Dogs
My neigbours dog once stole his wifes mobile phone from inside the house and while chewing it on the back lawn, managed to dial my mate. When he answered all he could hear was "munch, munch, snuffle, pant, pant" which had him wondering what the hell his wife was up to. Then the dog managed to hang up. My mate rang his wife on the home phone and asked "Honey, do you know where your mobile is?" Needless to say the dog was in the shit. Didnt deter him too much though because he stole and ate the TV remote a while later. Must be something to do with the buttons.......

Good work mate. Good to hear search and rescue onto it straight away piece of mind it actually works. I also have a lab, female black 16 years old and she needs her own personal epirb !!! falls over out the back and I cant find her poor old girl. love the labs.

16 is a good innings for a lab
Cherish it whilst she is still here. I lost a black female last year to something similar to throat cancer and she was 13. Can't remember a time prior to that where I have been so upset, my Mrs was even more devastated than me.
Bloody labs, hard to live with them sometimes, can't live without them.

yep 16 great innings but getting a struggle for the old girl. Know what you mean about getting attached to them. Part of the family kids have never known another dog.
Used to get some funny looks at lougie dam when son would disk with here behind the boat !! she has been 50km offshore fishing. Not that keen on crabing after one got hold of her
nose once. ah the memories.

At least you know it
At least you know it definitely works! I've love to be able to give them a call and then set mine off just to double check it is actually going to them.
I got a 10y old golden retriever and he still thinks he's a puppy sometimes but weighs in at 39kg, cheeky twat.

Agreed on the beagles comment
Like a Labrador although even more inclined to follow their nose and just keep walking. Once they get onto a scent they tend to lose focus of anything else around them.
