Bivy Stick Mobile Phone Satellite Extender

Has anyone got/used one of these? I've found mobile reception to drop out >12nm out of Mindarie and have been exploring options and mobile extenders installed in the boat are bloody expensive. Really just looking for ad hoc coms but whilst avoiding installing anything. I've just changed from Optus to Telstra and haven't tested it yet but the Bivy Stick looks like a perfect mobile solution that can be taken on hikes etc as well.

Never used one Frosty but an interesting observation recently at the Mackerel Islands. I have a work phone that is with Optus and I struggled to get any reception unless I stood on one leg outside our chalet with a beer in one hand and pointed the phone at Onslow with the other. The other 2 guys on our boat and our chalet had 4G just about everywhere we went on the boat and strong reception on the island. Unfortunately Telstra still rules.

I found when in Exmouth I got nothing with Optus, yet mate with Telstra had good coverage. I swapped to Telstra and definitely better offshore local. Haven't really taken note of how far out tho.

I've got one on the big duck, well worth the loot. Sounds like you're due for a bigger boat soon with all of the gear you've got on it these days.....(:
