Best time to come to Perth for the sambo's?

Hey guys, just wondering when the best time to come across to Perth (from melbs) to try get me a sambo is? Not sure if its worth coming over and getting on a charter or slinging one of you cats some cash and heading out with you instead.. not sure anyone would be keen for that though. Let me know if you are! haha

off going around a month into the season at the start they are slow but about a month in they are smashing it, just watch out for the sharks, last year the patch was pretty hectic same with the barges and the fish where a little smaller than avg down derwent line.

but its hell fun.

btw i worked every day of the season.

a little later in the season the rotto shallows are pretty hot :)

theyre getting increasingly worse every year, and it will be interesting to see how they go again this season.

I'm actually shifting away from the sambos a bit, and will be targeting the sharks more this season.

Yep - likewise.

Going to go and throw my back out trying to haul one of those pricks to the boat this year for sure!

Gotta give that damn marlin outfit that I impulse bought a workout one way or another (god knows it has never seen a bloody marlin).

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:

n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or

n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

hmmm, seems i may have missed the boat a bit then. Are the charters worht going on or does it just become a day of shark feeding? Tossing up whether to do the sambo's or go the GBR and try and get a GT (will cost me a bit more).

Not sure what you mean by missing the boat a bit, as they're about to start firing, and usually early in the season there is less noahs, but the fish are generally a bit smaller.

Getting on a reputable charter is definitely worth doing, and I say reputable as a good charter/skipper will search around and go find the aggs that have less or no sharks.

Is it really fun catching them in such shallow water Whitey? I always thought that jigging 100-200m, 200-400g jigs was just a sport for masochists?

Have to get up and try it sometime soon!

Any month of the year in that 15m strip between Lano and Wedge, bit of burley and they show up. Would be good fun on line there, shallow water, lots of sand, little structure to get cut off on. Saw piles of the stupid things last weekend.

If you head over Patty then a charter with Whitey will sort you out good & proper mate, I remember a red hot Sambo session in winter on the light gear great fun not to mention the other fishing.

Always plenty of jigging to be had down south also here mate & with the ban on that's all we will be doing
