The best offshore plastics stick
Submitted by spook on Fri, 2012-10-05 18:40
Hey guys, wondering what everyone was using as offshore placcy sticks? Im using a 7ft 15-25lb samurai at the moment and I'm certain there is something better, maybe 6'6? softer action? Your opinions would be great!

love my 502 but my placky jigging is mainly aimed at trevally and queenies and it suits this very well, what reel do you have matched on it?

Ay Yewie, got a Catalina
Ay Yewie, got a Catalina 4000. Suits it well i think, also have a Caldia 3000 on another wandoo pe2.5 7ft I use and interchange between but they are both pretty simular. Its a bit hard turning something heavy of the bottom with them so may need something stiffer but I also want to feel and swim the placcy

Nice, i'm running a certate
Nice, i'm running a certate 3500hd, have caught queenies and trevors to about 6kg (don't get out fishing enough) and have been able to give them plenty of stick, am hoping to get stuck into some black jew with it to see how much hurt i can dish out on it also i'm working stick bait style plackys pretty fast so cant feel them swim anyway, hope you get the info your chasing.
Cheers Yewie

I think samurai make a
I think samurai make a 20-30lb (532) that may be what you are looking for. I run a T-Curve revolution 7ft travel s/w spin (20-30lb) that would probably do the job as well.

Im actually pretty impressed
Im actually pretty impressed with my Fishing WA rod, 1 peice 7' graphite 8-10 kg... only about $150ish from Oceanside from memory Im using it with a Xt Sanctum 5000 and Daiwa 30lb boat braid.. reasonably cheap combo that really has some balls.. I use it for jigs too and have caught some monster sambos on it already

Daiwa Demon Blood 702MH. PE 3
Daiwa Demon Blood 702MH. PE 3 - 5. Run Saltiga PE 3 line on it. Love the extra length and the rod is worth every peny I paid for it.

I have the old model, reckon
I have the old model, reckon it looks cooler with the red and white. The new model is very similar, they just run SIC K guides. Only down side is, they are chinese, unfortunately.

Hi mate
If you were after something shorter than perhaps the N.S Black Hole Magic Eye Torque. It stands at 1.73m which yes is short in terms of a plastics rod, Though when you have this rod in your hand you feel just how responsive the rod is. It would match nicely to your Caldia 3000 though a touch light for your Catalina 4000 in my opinion. Also doubles as a nice demersal jigger stick. Made in Korea and comes in a nice white blank with red trim. We bought this rod in to check it out and it has been well recieved so far.
Feel free to PM if you would like any more info.
Cheers
