I did hear something a while back
Some politically correct wankers seemed to think that glorifying the solders who had killed the families of some of the new arrivals here would be offensive and that we should start to change the way we go about remembering our fallen and not highlight the efforts of our "non-dead" soldiers. What a crock of shit! I'm not racist but I am very keen to continue tradition which has built this country. What's the saying? Fit in or F-off ......

Mine too
The best thing is it is always a public holiday so i can go to the dawn service and then breakfast with the family.Everyone that served in my family have gone now and between them they saved 100s of lives. They will never be forgotten along with the rest of the diggers.Since i could drive the only dawn service i have missed is my wedding day and even then i took the time to follow the service. One think is for sure my whole family will be up at 0400 hours on Anzac day to get to the service.
So tell me have you got your info from years on the water or hours on the internet?

Not funny
I do not find this subject funny at all.
TO THE MEMORY OF FALLEN COMRADES
They gave their lives, for that public gift they received a praise which never ages and a tomb most glorious, not so much the tomb in which they lie, but in which their fame survives, to be remembered forever when occasion comes for world or deed.....
THAT is What ANZAC DAY means to me , and to make light of it truely offends me and my whole family.
ANY Problem with what i have said, please PM me and i will tell you the story of our Fallen Hero's face to face ....GRANT ....

Absolute disgrace spending $370,000 on a report on how to make Anzac day more politically correct day. What a kick in the teeth to what they fought for I know for a fact I'm going overto Gallipoli for the 100th

Sorry Carry
Sorry Carry, I did not mean to point my comment directly at you. ( i can see how it appeared that way ).
I still stand by what i have said and understand most people feel the same way as i do . This year would have been my grandfathers 100th birthday. He came back from France with only one hand and two fingers on the other.
He raised me as his son and taught me how to fish, make sinkers and many other things. ( including beer .lol )
The subject just hit me hard and i needed to have a say , this is one day of the year where i feel jokes are not needed, considering how our way of life( In Australia) keeps getting question'd by outside cultures.
Cheers Grant ..

Well put Grant
Firstly I think that Carry was responding to the fact that Michael can't remember his wedding date without significant assistance!
Secondly your comment
"TO THE MEMORY OF FALLEN COMRADES" is heart felt and the essence of what all Australians should feel on this most sacred day.
Above all days on our calendar, ANZAC Day, through the serving men and women of this nation forged the reputation of two relatively young nations at the time into the psych of the people of the remaining countries of the world. This is the foundation from which we are recognised through out the world- good hearted larrikin people who love life and are prepared to give all if necessary to help a mate. I doubt that any of us who reveer what this day means for us would want it any other way. As a teacher of Primary School kids my focus in the lead up to ANZAC Day has always been on the acts of selflessnous during the time of War, by ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances.
I am often at a loss why we want to continually chip away at the things that the majority of Australians understand make up the cultural fabric of our Society for the perceived benefit of an often unnamed minority. To me it beggars belief.

Makes my blood boil when they
Makes my blood boil when they want to mess around with probably the most important part of our history. No matter where you come from you should always respect the ones who have fallen in the duty of their country. There is no need to change anything regarding ANZAC day it is what it is.
Love the West!
