Yeah- good day

Fri, 2013-03-29 17:39

Yeah we went out of two rocks today.

was a bit sloppy heading out with the strong offshore but once out there, and with the help of a big sea anchor, held the bottom with no prob's.

I think the first two drifts resulted in three dhuies with one in the esky and the other two released (both released were size but were hoping for a larger model). Tink it was the next drift where a bigger one came on board so that was put in the esky as well and we were basically done.

marked some new lumps so had a few drifts over them as we'll to try for something different but couldn't get away from dhuies!! What a problem huh?

finally landed a good baldie so that was enough and back in to the ramp late morning. Breeze dropped off nicely for the trip home. I think between the two of us, we boated 8 or 9 dhuies, one baldie and two sea sweep so no a bad day. Dhus weren't huge, biggest about 6-7 kg.

all fish on bait, tried a soft plastic for a bit and got a couple of little hits but still a virgin in that department!

cheers

we had the same prob today

Fri, 2013-03-29 17:50

we had the same prob today mate, could not get away from the dhuys!!

10 on our boat all but 2 were over, about 8 i think was the last count on my mates tub who fished with us, his 2 largest at 80+68cm.

our largest was a 62+59cm.

i got a nice K/G on the jig which was a supprize and a huge bloody n/w blowie, other than that just bakers and big ones at that.

nothing else to add to the esky, so had to come home  with just ths 3 fish, but good fish at that.

cheers ron

Hid in shelter till about 10am where we were getting black ass and kg's then lots of small dhuys when the wind dropped.

kg's on the snells was different, nice mixed bag at the end of the day but no baldys

How was the dolphinfish bite?

Sat, 2013-03-30 07:42

How was the dolphinfish bite? Completely mental, couldn't get away from the stupid things, they were even taking 12" pushers.

A While

Sat, 2013-03-30 11:27

Been like that for a few months Jamie. We have been getting a feed of dollies pretty much every time we have pulled the big gear for bills.
Have found paddocks of them at times no where near the FADs as well.

I have never had problems

Sat, 2013-03-30 16:32

I have never had problems landing dollies, but this was mental. They were taking dead-sticked lures of pretty much any lure we got out of the box - so much for finicky fish.

Mental

Sat, 2013-03-30 16:50

Even more mental is when you have billfish coming out of the water to smash a dolly you've hooked on your big gear ;)

Yeah we need to drag a few

Sat, 2013-03-30 16:52

Yeah we need to drag a few bigger outfits sometime.

We wanted a small one to drag, but dammit we could only catch bigger fish.

disaster trip

Sat, 2013-03-30 15:58

Got out yesterday at first light from Mindarie. Mrs dropped her $200 glasses in the water launching the boat so gone fore eva. No dramas, headed out and got smashed in the "10 - 15 becomming variable to 10 " wind. More like 25 and a 2 meter sea. No probs boat can handle it, then the sea anchor gets shredded. Ok have a spare, bit smaller but will do. Fished until the wind dropped and then out to the bank. Nothing but undersize baldies and snapper. Then the GPS shits itself, no probs have a spare. Wind comes in and its time to go, with nothing, thats fishing. Got back to the ramp and found that some lovely person had smashed into my boat trailer ripping the rear rollers and light off. They had even gone to the trouble of attempting to put one of the rollers back on to hide it. Lucky a bloke pointed it out. If I hadnt noticed it could have been alot worse. Spent an hour in the car park reparing the damage. Now I'm pissed off. Get home start cleaning the boat. Lift the kill tank to clean it and the whole latch assembly comes off in my hand with the lid just missing my toes when it slammed. WTF hughie is killing me. Steam comming out of the ears by now. Clean up and put it to bed, ill fix that sh#t tommorrow. Go inside get a beer for me and the Mrs, sit down thinking that was a shit day. Mrs starts screaming. WTF Sreaming turns to tears and she explains that her $900 anniverseary gold chain has fallen off and gone. More beer to numb the pain. Frozen fillets out for dinner. Gotta laugh or cry not sure which. That life.

Sounds like a plan to never get the Mrs back on the boat again - I did this with an outboard fire a few years back

Least you got all the bad luck out in one go...and that bad luck didn't involve going for an involuntary swim.

was definitley a good friday for me

Sun, 2013-03-31 10:37

on thursday i was expecting to get my hds5 back from warranty but it never arrived. so i went into friday not expecting much luck. headed out of woody's and stopped off for a flicked for a few tailor once we found the right spot we got some good aerobatic action. then we moved out to the south side of rotto and tried one of my spots, but as we didnt have the sounder couldnt quite get right on it. so we thought we might go try near some cray pots we saw. from there the day heated up and the pinkys were on the run. we caught our limit in the hour that we were there. the biggest coming in at 87cm. if only there were more people on board we could have stayed longer and caught more

Both Boat

Sun, 2013-03-31 16:01

launching areas in Leeman have had over 50+ boats from Friday to today Easter Sunday, will find out from friend in Caravan Park what has been caught.

Most beach launching areas have had good traffic on them.  Few people headed to Gum tree but had to turn back due to the Shire locking up the road.

Have't seen Fisheries over the Easter long week end.

Sun, 2013-03-31 22:10

Friday - Harry (owner of Fishing WA) asked if I could take him and a few mates out for some Super Deep fish ie Blue- Eye Trevalla and that we did on the filming boat!

Got a feed and came in before the seabreeze really picked up........i was the skipper (no fishing) and some nice R & R for me before we start filming the next series which is very soon!
