Any one seen bonito yet?

Im pretty keen to get into some bonito this summer. Has anyone tangled with any yet or is it still a little early?

Read the other day (cant remember if it was on the internet or in the paper) that some Bonito are being caught off north mole in the mornings. So I guess that they are there.

i think they are all right
i think they are all right to eat but more for sport.
there also good bottom bouncing bait.

Yeh as danno said, I prefer to catch and release sport fish like bonito. I have heard they make great bait, especially as big baits for sharks. They are REALLY 'meaty'.

Friend of mine caught one
Friend of mine caught one the other week early morning at North Mole. Was using a halco twisty.

on the busso jetty we used live yakkas/herring under a TINY balloon (used as an indicator, not a sail type thing). we cleaned up, but wise to havea spin rod with a lure as back up :P

Ive also caught them on lures and livies in busso
But never caught them or seen anyone catch them in the metro area

good sashimi
makes good sashimi if bled right away! I know guys like to use it as bait, but i'd rather eat a fresh bonito.

you wil have more chance of

they would take any slices
they would take any slices if there hungry and in a school you just have to be lucky reely lucky to get them at north mole try behind rotto heaps out there just tral with little halco laser pros in orang yellow and green works well or trawl plastics around big bright coulers
