Another Good Day off Cape Nato

With town getting back to normal after the easter break and the weather looking great I decided to head out for a fish.

Decided to head straight to a spot that has been producing some good fish. First drop resulted in a solid dhuy for my mate on a fresh squid head and a smaller dhuy for myself on a SP. Mine released itself boat side and swam back down.

Next drift my mate decided to give an old school hand line a go and I sent down an 11 inch McArthy SP in the hope of something bigger. As soon as we hit the bottom we both were on. Troy had a battle on his hands with his fish ripping line out of his hands a few times. Mine felt really solid and was taken line off my PE2 outfit at a rate of knots. Troys was up first and ended up being a douple header of dhuys. First time he had used a hand line and what a result. Mine was still given me heaps. Just as I had the fish half way up my rod snapped. Managed to get the fish up with the snapped rod. Turned out to be a big sambo.

Decieded to have one more drift and drop a metal down which resulted in another nice dhuy for me that was quickly sent back home.

Was another great day out with not one other boat spotted out of the bay.

theres nothing more fun than handlines, you get an awsome fight no matter whats on the end, but a double header of dhuies is wicked

Nice work guys. Nothing better than dropping right on them AND their hungry.

What was the go with the rod failure? damaged/scratched blank, high stick ...

Bit disappointed with the rod. Don't know what happened. It was in top condition with no stratches or nicks in the blank and my reel was set on 4kg of drag. The rod is rated to PE3.

It was a two piece and snapped on the join. Should be covered with warranty as its only about 4 months old.
